poznámka:
English architectural partnership established in 1944 by Francis Reginald Stevens Yorke (b Stratford-on-Avon, 3 Dec 1906; d London, 10 June 1962), Eugene Rosenberg (b Topolcany, Slovakia, 24 Feb 1907; d London, Nov 1990) and Cyril Mardall (b Helsinki, 21 Sept 1909). Yorke was the son of an architect, Francis Walter Bagnell Yorke (1880-1957), and trained at the University of Birmingham School of Architecture, before establishing a practice in London in 1930. His early work included houses at Iver (1935; destr. 1985; see Architects' J., 31 Dec 1936), Bucks, Nast Hyde (1935), Herts, using reinforced concrete, and a terrace of houses (1939) at Stratford-on-Avon, all of which were flat-roofed and white-walled. A pioneer of Modernism in England, Yorke was a founder-member of the MARS group (1933) and active in CIAM, although his name became associated with the Modern Movement chiefly through his publications, which discussed work on the international scene. From 1935 to 1938 he was in partnership with Marcel Breuer, with whom he built a house (1935) at Angmering-on-Sea, Sussex, and an exhibition house (1938) at the Royal Show, Bristol.
